Holiday Meals & Partnerships

Thanksgiving took on new meaning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Unprecedented levels of food shortages and isolation led to new partnerships to serve our community, especially during the holidays.

The YWCA of Greater Los Angeles partnered with Everytable to deliver 10,000 meals in just three months during the fall of 2020. YWCA received grant funding from BET to launch The Ujima Project, an initiative to provide food and housing support to the African-American community. In a true spirit of partnership, YWCA identified several community-based organizations across South Los Angeles to deliver meals to. Everytable was proud to be their food partner.

YWCA GLA meal partnerships included the “Wondalunch On Us” event at LA Southwest College hosted by the amazing Janelle Monae, Social Justice Learning Institute, Yara Shahidi and Congresswoman Maxine Waters where we distributed 5,000 Everytable meals.

YWCA GLA also sponsored 1,000 holiday meals for a community distribution event in partnership with the Mayor Aja Brown and the City of Compton, Runway 4 Peace and Shoe Palace on November 25th. A video recap of the event can be found here.

Additional partnerships through The Ujima Project include Rebuild California Alliance, Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Mt. Sinai Missionary Church, Partnership for Growth, South Central Health Clinic, Friendly Friendships Baptist Church, UMMA Clinic, Maddox Properties, Adult Residential Care, Jenesse Center, Inc., and Good Shepherd Center. We even inspired Genesis Car Company to sponsor more meals with YWCA to deliver to the homes of foster youth and their families through the Faith Foster Families Network.

They say it takes a village, and we truly brought together an entire village of organizations to bring good food into the community!

Everytable’s holiday meals make these partnerships extra special. We offer holiday meals for a limited time only starting in November and lasting until the end of the year. This year, we are offering a hearty plate of maple-thyme glazed turkey breast with roasted brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes, as well as a plant-based roasted veggie grain bowl. These nourishing, flavorful holiday treats arrive individually packaged for ease of transportation, and can be enjoyed warm at home.

Keeping with the theme of gratitude this holiday season, we are so excited to continue to make meaningful impact by offering nourishing holiday meals through new partnerships with nonprofits, churches, council offices and companies. Contact our team to discuss your holiday catering plans today!
